2012 Liturgical Calendar

 

Upcoming

The Rite of Election and Call to Continuing Conversion  will be held three times in the diocese: Saturday, February 25, 2012, at 7:00 p.m. (Corpus Christi/Queen of Apostles, Council Bluffs); and Sunday, February 26, 2012, at 1:30 and 4:30 p.m. (Cathedral of St. Ambrose, Des Moines). Catechumens and Baptized Candidates for reception into the full communion of the Church, along with their families, sponsors, and catechists gather for this experience of deeper connection with the Church before their initiation/reception. 

 

The Chrism Mass is set for Friday, March 30, 2012, at 7:00 p.m. Join us at the Cathedral of St. Ambrose for this annual gathering of the Diocese of Des Moines!

 

2012 Ordination Liturgy is in the planning stages. We are preparing for the ordaintion of three diocesan seminarians as deacons on June 1, 2012. All are welcome to attend! 

 

Past

Prayer for Christian Unity will be held at the Catholic Pastoral Center at 601 Grand Ave. in Des Moines onSunday, January 22, 2012, at 4:00 p.m. The service was adapted by local leaders from the materials developed jointly by the Pontifical Council on Christian Unity and the World Council of Churches. Roman Missal, Third Edition, Rolled Out!

  1. Are you still deepening your experience of God in our worship? An excellent series for parishes is the Federation of Diocesan Liturgical Commission’s “Three-minute Catechesis”, which is a series of 26 short reflections meant to be read at some point during, before, or after the parish Sunday liturgy.

  2. Visit the US Bishop's site for information on the new texts, as well as our diocesan site.
