10-13-09 World Food Prize Reflection, Bishop Pates offered a reflection during World Food Prize luncheon, saying the founder of the World Food Prize and those researchers who are honored have accomplished work that has saved millions of lives and enhanced the dignity of people. He tied the efforts of the World Food Prize with the words of Pope John Paul II during his visit in 1979 to Iowa about safeguarding creation and the land so it could continue to be productive and appreciated by generations to come.
10-24-09 The Priestly Ordination of Reynaldo Hernandez in El Salvador, Bishop Pates said many in the Des Moines diocese will benefit greatly from the gifts Father Hernandez will share when he comes to serve the Latino immigrants.
